Michael Daly was appointed as the Associate Judge of the Supreme Court of Tasmania in April 2024.
His Honour graduated from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Laws in 1992. From 1993 until 2000 he practiced as a solicitor with the firm of Rae and Partners. He was active in the Law Society of Tasmania and within the Tasmanian Independent Bar.
In 2000 he joined the Tasmanian Independent Bar practicing in the criminal and civil jurisdictions. In 2007 he was appointed as a temporary magistrate of the Magistrates Court of Tasmania and in 2008 he was appointed as a permanent full-time magistrate. In 2011 he was appointed as Deputy Chief Magistrate and remained in that role until his appointment as the Associate Judge.
